Shahih Bukhari - 2308

Telah menceritakan kepada kami ['Ali bin Al Hakam Al Anshariy] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu 'Awanah] dari [Sa'id bin Masruq] dari ['Abayah bin Rifa'ah bin Rafi' bin Khadij] dari [kakeknya] berkata; "Kami bersama Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam di Dzul Hulaifah ketika sebagian orang terserang lapar lalu mereka mendapatkan (harta rampasan perang berupa) unta dan kambing. Saat itu Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam berada di belakang bersama rombongan yang lain. Orang-orang yang lapar itu segera saja menyembelih lalu mendapatkan daging sebanyak satu kuali. Maka Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam memerintahkan agar kuali tersebut ditumpahkan isinya. Kemudian Beliau membagi rata dimana bagian setiap sepuluh kambing sama dengan satu ekor unta. Namun ada seekor unta yang lari lalu mereka mencarinya hingga kelelahan. Sementara itu diantara mereka ada yang memiliki seekor kuda yang lincah lalu ia mencari unta tadi dan memburunya dengan panah hingga akhirnya Allah menakdirkannya dapat membunuh unta tersebut. Beliau bersabda: "Sesungguhnya bintang seperti ini hukumnya sama dengan binatang liar. Maka apa saja yang kabur dari kalian (lalu didapatkannya,) perlakuklanlah seperti ini". Kakekku berkata: "Kita berharap atau khawatir bertemu musuh esok hari sedangkan kita tidak punya pisau, apakah kita boleh menyembelih dengan kayu?". Beliau berkata: "Setiap yang ditumpahkan darahnya dengan disebut nama Allah maka makanlah kecuali gigi dan kukunya, dan aku akan sampaikan tentang itu. Adapun gigi dia termasuk tulang sedangkan kuku merupakan pisaunya orang-orang Habsasyah". (HR. Bukhari: 2308)

Narrated ʿAbaya bin Rafa'a bin Raft' bin Khadij: My grandfather said, "We were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) at Dhul-Hulaifa. The people felt hungry and captured some camels and sheep (as booty). The Prophet (ﷺ) was behind the people. They hurried and slaughtered the animals and put their meat in pots and started cooking it. (When the Prophet (ﷺ) came) he ordered the pots to be upset and then he distributed the animals (of the booty), regarding ten sheep as equal to one camel. One of the camels fled and the people ran after it till they were exhausted. At that time there were few horses. A man threw an arrow at the camel, and Allah stopped the camel with it. The Prophet said, "Some of these animals are like wild animals, so if you lose control over one of these animals, treat it in this way (i.e. shoot it with an arrow)." Before distributing them among the soldiers my grandfather said, "We may meet the enemies in the future and have no knives; can we slaughter the animals with reeds?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Use whatever causes blood to flow, and eat the animals if the name of Allah has been mentioned on slaughtering them. Do not slaughter with teeth or fingernails and I will tell you why: It is because teeth are bones (i.e. cannot cut properly) and fingernails are the tools used by the Ethiopians (whom we should not imitate for they are infidels)."
