حَدَّثَنَا فَرْوَةُ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَطُوفُونَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ عُرَاةً إِلَّا الْحُمْسَ وَالْحُمْسُ قُرَيْشٌ وَمَا وَلَدَتْ وَكَانَتْ الْحُمْسُ يَحْتَسِبُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ يُعْطِي الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ الثِّيَابَ يَطُوفُ فِيهَا وَتُعْطِي الْمَرْأَةُ الْمَرْأَةَ الثِّيَابَ تَطُوفُ فِيهَا فَمَنْ لَمْ يُعْطِهِ الْحُمْسُ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ عُرْيَانًا وَكَانَ يُفِيضُ جَمَاعَةُ النَّاسِ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ وَيُفِيضُ الْحُمْسُ مِنْ جَمْعٍ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي الْحُمْسِ { ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ } قَالَ كَانُوا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ فَدُفِعُوا إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ
Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Farwah bin Abu Al Maghra'] telah menceritakan kepada kami ['Ali bin Mushir] dari [Hisyam bin 'Urwah], ['Urwah] berkata: "Pada masa Jahiliyah orang-orang melakukan thawaf dengan telanjang kecuali Al Humus dan istilah Al Humus adalah orang-orang Quraisy dan keturunan mereka. Dahulu Al Humus membeda-bedakan manusia, diantara kaum lelakinya ada yang memberi pakaian kepada kaum lelaki sehingga dia thawaf mengenakan pakaian, begitu juga diantara wanitanya memberi pakaian kepada para wanita sehingga dia thawaf dengan pakaian itu. Sedangkan bagi orang yang tidak diberi pakaian oleh Al Humus (quraisy) maka dia thawaf dengan telanjang. Rambongan orang-orang biasanya bertolak dari 'Arafah sedangkan Al Humus (quraisy) dari Jama', atau Muzdalifah. Dia berkata; bapakku telah mengabarkan kepada saya dari ['Aisyah radliallahu 'anha] bahwa ayat ini (QS Al Baqarah ayat 199) turun tentang Al Humus (yang artinya): ("Kemudian bertolaklah kamu dari tempat bertolaknya orang banyak"). 'Urwah berkata: "Awalnya mereka selalu bertolak dari Jama', kemudian diperintahkan bertolak dari 'Arafah". (HR. Bukhari: 1554)
Narrated ʿUrwa: During the pre-lslamic period of Ignorance, the people used to perform Tawaf of the Kaʿbah naked except the Hums; and the Hums were Quraish and their offspring. The Hums used to give clothes to the men who would perform the Tawaf wearing them; and women (of the Hums) used to give clothes to the women who would perform the Tawaf wearing them. Those to whom the Hums did not give clothes would perform Tawaf round the Kaʿbah naked. Most of the people used to go away (disperse) directly from ʿArafat but they (Hums) used to depart after staying at Al-Muzdalifa. ʿUrwa added, "My father narrated that ʿAisha had said, 'The following verses were revealed about the Hums: Then depart from the place whence all the people depart--(2.199) ʿUrwa added, "They (the Hums) used to stay at Al-Muzdalifa and used to depart from there (to Mina) and so they were sent to ʿArafat (by Allah's order)."
